LMSW

Hi there! As a clinical social worker, I truly believe that clients are the experts in their own lives and already possess so many strengths and resiliency within themselves. Through my work with clients, my hope is to offer new perspectives and in doing so explore ways to promote healing and growth. Starting the therapeutic journey can be daunting, but my hope is throughout our time together each client gains a renewed sense of self-empowerment and hope for the future.

I earned my LMSW with a specialization in clinical practice from the University of Iowa. While earning my degree, I worked as a school social work intern in the Des Moines metro area providing brief counseling to middle and high school students in the district. I then transitioned to become an outpatient clinical therapy intern where I supported clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relational conflict, life transitions, self-esteem, and more. I have experience working with clients across various age groups, with a particular focus on adolescents and young adults.  While I utilize several different evidence based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Play Therapy- employing a client-centered approach is inherent to my work with all clients.

Outside of work and school, some of my favorite hobbies include exercising, scouring Pinterest for new cooking recipes, reading, and finding films that pique my interest in cinematography. I am newly married, and together my husband and I enjoy exploring new restaurants, traveling, and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones (except when they play each other, Go Hawks!).
